I doubt very much if even long-term readers of Easily Aroused will remember what happened here on May 22nd, 2006.
I, however, remember it all too clearly.
That was the day that the server which hosts this blog nose dived into the electronic drink, taking with it the Wordpress database that stored all of the posts and images and comments I’d patiently built up during the previous thirteen months. With hindsight, I can look back with a wry smile, but at the time, I was so devastated that I came very close to turning my back on this entire enterprise.
Getting the posts and the images back online wasn’t as painful as I’d feared. But restoring the comments … that was a different matter. I’d regularly backed up the database, but naively, I’d exported the files in a format for viewing in Excel. Unfortunately, as I learned to my cost, trying to import those files back into a MySQL database was … well, beyond me, and the few people I could call upon to assist.
The only solution was to restore them manually, one record at a time.
Six thousand two hundred and eighty eight records to be precise.
This evening, at 8.15pm Greenwich Mean Time - almost eighteen months after the crash - I finally completed my task.
Now, I won’t pretend to have rushed. Restoring databases one line at a time is one of the more ball-aching tasks I’ve undertaken (how the hell people in data entry posts cope I will never know, but you folks have a serious amount of my respect), and given that I have a boredom threshold lower than the GNP of Zimbabwe, it’s not something that’s been able to hold my attention for great lengths of time. But I’ve plugged away, and finally - finally! - the ball ache is over.
Not only do I have a fully restored archive (I was always conscious of people seeing posts that had no comments whatsoever. There are still a few of those unfortunately. That’s because when this blog first started out, it was hosted on Indecent Blogging, and they had a server crash too, before I’d learned the wisdom of backing up your comments), but I have a fuller appreciation for what EA has achieved. As I write this, I’m 44 comments shy of reaching two thousand of the buggers. As far as I’m concerned, that’s some kind of landmark. So to mark the achievement, I’m going to do something special for the two thousandth commenter. I’ve no idea what that’s going to be yet, but there’s the commitment, in advance of the making the actual milestone.
It’s also given me the opportunity to do a little retrospection. The one thing I haven’t been able to identify until now is who Commenter 1000 was. That person has now been well and truly identified. The comment was made on a tale I called ‘Peak of Desire‘. The actual 1000th comment was this one. And so to mark that occasion - just over a year late, admittedly - I’d like to present Misty with a copy of the first of my Pulp Sex tales, The Third Lust.
My apologies to those who tuned in here expecting fresh sauciness. I’d direct those who haven’t already done so to try a little taste of Obéissance.
And who’s going to be Commenter 2K? You perhaps?

well done for have the patience to complete your task…not sure i could have done it, but your dedication to your site is truly admirable….2000 comments !! …2000 sexually happy people who cared to comment on your lustful words…and no doubt 1000’s that didnt….xx
Thank you, Kimmie. It’s actually quite a way short of being 2000 individuals - I’ve been privileged enough to have had more than a few regular commenters during the past thirty months, yourself included. In fact, you’ve started me wondering now. How many individual commenters there have been? Oh dear. This could all be the start of an Excel addiction…

Now THAT’S the kind of stamina I am looking for in a man
Are you UP for more love?
XX
Time and place, ma’am?

My sincere congratulations EA! Cheers to you!
It is my ardent hope that if I am not destined to be number 2000, then perhaps I can aspire to be number 3000 or 5000. That is to say that I never want to stop being seduced by those enchanting words of yours.
Many, many thanks,
Elyse
Thank you for the vote of confidence, Elyse…

Fresh sauciness is always welcome, but today my heart’s gone out to you in a way your previous words never made me feel. That painstakingly hard task you’ve completed deserves all my devotion…which in no way matches your devotion to us, your readers. I wish you 2000 more happy and sexy comments. Thank you. Aurea
I’m touched, Aurea - thank you…

I am also amazed at the stamina.. not that I wouldn’t have expected exactly that from you, EA.
Very tough work.. and very much appreciated by all, I’m sure!
Thanks, Lea…

EA, what a wonderful surprise - I am truly honoured. Thank you.
Who would have guessed that my comment all those months ago would reap such reward?
I can highly recommend ‘The Third Lust‘ beautifully written and highly arousing in only the way that you can….as with all your writing, taking both mind and body on a journey, leaving each of us with something we didn’t realise we needed - yet once read would never be without - long may you continue.
No, thank you Misty for providing comment number 1000 - and thank you for the glowing endorsement as well…

That’s a lot of work EA well done you for having the patience to get it done. I certainly wouldn’t!!!! Having started to read your work it doesn’t surprise me in the least you’ve had that many comments. Anything that is as well written, beautifully executed, able to touch so many and as highly erotic as your work deserves every single comment on here.
You have an amazing gift and I think it’s fair to say that we are VERY glad you choose to share it!
Thank you so much for saying so, Raven…

You are such a great erotic writer, with just the right amount of story, before getting down to the sex, that you are a joy and a complete turn on to read.
Here’s to the next 2000 comments following more and more of your gorgeous stories.

Thank you, PX…

Much appreciation for weathering the storms and continuing to publish. Your blog is my favorite treat, better than chocolate by far. I find your writing to be marvellously sincere, personal and evocative - delicious. - Charlotte
Now there’s another potential tagline for me to harvest: ‘Easily Aroused - better than chocolate’. I’m not sure that all women would agree with you though, Charlotte. How about calling it a tie, and smothering me and my words in chocolate. Would that work?

Kudos to you, darling…
It’s not been long that I’ve been reading your blog, but if anything should happen to your writing now, I would be very lost…
Let’s hope your words continue to dampen my panties in the future.
Mwah.
A compliment, an inspiration and an ambition, encapsulated in one comment. I’ll do my very best to meet your expectations, Giti…
